Charter Schools Week Update
Dear Friends at Arizona Charter Schools Association:
The Fulbright Memorial Fund Teacher Program (FMF),
administered by the
Japan-United States Educational Commission and the
Institute of
International Education, and funded by the government
of Japan, offers
teachers and administrators of grades 1-12 an opportunity
for a
fully-funded three-week professional development opportunity
in Japan.
The program, commemorated in honor of the 50th Anniversary
of the J.
William Fulbright Scholarship, seeks to encourage a
lasting, peaceful
and fruitful partnership between the people of the
United States and
those of Japan.
Now in its 9th year of existence, FMF sends 600 educators
annually to
Japan to take part in an educational and cultural study
visit.
Associations such as yours play an integral part in
getting the word out
to Arizona educators about this opportunity, so that
Arizona can have a
strong representation in next year’s program,
and bring back the
knowledge gained to the students and community. By
including the
attached information in your listserv, newsletters,
and website, we can
look forward to an increased response from eligible
educators in your
state and region.
The deadline for the 2005 FMF competition is December
10, 2004. Those
interested may apply directly via the online application
found on the
FMF website at www.iie.org/fmf
